What is Swarna Prashan?
The word “Swarna” means gold, and “Prashan” means to consume or ingest. Swarna Prashan is considered a traditional and holistic approach to promoting the overall health and well-being of children. Here are some of its potential benefits as believed in Ayurveda:
Swarna Bhasma (Purified Gold)
Suvarna Bhasma, also known as Swarna Bhasma, is a key ingredient in Swarna Prashan, a traditional Ayurvedic practice. Suvarna Bhasma is purified gold, and its preparation is a meticulous and time-consuming process. Here’s a description of this important ingredient:

1. Source: Suvarna Bhasma is derived from pure gold, typically 24-karat gold, which is known for its high purity. Gold is chosen for its therapeutic properties and long-standing importance in Ayurveda.

2. Purification Process:The preparation of Suvarna Bhasma involves several steps to purify and potentiate gold for therapeutic use. These steps may include detoxification, grinding, trituration (repeated grinding with specific herbal juices or decoctions), and incineration at high temperatures in a controlled environment. This process is performed under strict guidelines to ensure the purity and safety of the final product.

3. Therapeutic Properties: Suvarna Bhasma is believed to have several beneficial properties in Ayurveda, including Rasayana (rejuvenating), Vajikarana (aphrodisiac), and Medhya (brain-nourishing) properties. It is also thought to enhance the immune system and promote overall well-being.

Timing of medication:

Suvarna prashan can be done daily early in the morning empty stomach between 6am-8am, or at least on every Pushya nakshatra- an auspicious day- which happens to come after every 27-28 days, given on this day it bestows excellent benefits.

Why Pushya Nakshatra?

Pushya means Nutrition. Pushya Nakshatra increases working capacity (mental/physical),motivation and intellect and it is said to be Holy Nakshatra.

Benefits of Swarna Prashan

Bala vardhan
– Improves strength and immunity. Suvarna Prashan boosts immune system, making the body more resistant to infections and illnesses

Prevents Illness
– Prevents frequent illnesses like cold , cough, fever. Ayurveda suggests that Suvarna Prashan provides protection against common childhood ailments and allergies.

Ayush Vardhan
– Provides longer and healthier life.

Medha Vardhan
– It supports cognitive functions such as memory, concentration, and overall brain development in children. Improves intelligence, memory power and oratory skills.

Agni vardhan
– Improves healthy digestion and better absorption of nutrients. Improves apettite.

Varnya
– Improves complexion and imparts healthy glow.

Vrishya
-Improves energy and vigor in children.

Suvarna Prashan is believed to contribute to both physical and mental well-being in children.

What Does And Donts Need To Be Followed ?
1. Do not eat for at least half an hour prior and later of administration of Suvarnaprashan drops.
2. Preferably it should be started from Pushya Nakshatra or when given routinely it should be preferred to be given in morning as Suvarnabhasma (a form of complex oxide) can get best oxidised in morning due to high amount of oxygen present in atmosphere. Thus, it leads to better absorption of Suvarna Prashan drops.
3. It should not be given in acute fever as gold bhasma in such cases may increase body temperature.
Upto What Age Limit It Can Be Administered?
It can be given up to age group of 0-12 yrs.
Any Side efects:
No side effects as such but in rare case child can vomit due its sweet smell or taste of herbs.
